Lagoon Boat Trip - 2 Hours

A cruise along the beautiful Bentota lagoon on a dugout catamaran or motorboat is a must. This trip will take you past any signs of village life and deep into scenes of natural jungle and wild life. 

Lagoon Temple Boat Trip – 4 to 5 Hours

Take a longer ride and visit a remote village far up the river and make a short climb up to the famous ‘Mini Adam’s peak’ temple. Breathtaking views await you, with unspoilt scenes of village life to be enjoyed along the way.

Water Sports

We offer a full range of water activities on the lagoon and ocean. Jet skis, water skiing, wake boarding, tube rides & banana boating are available. 

Surfing School

If you’ve always dreamed about shredding the waves like a pro surfer, Sri Lanka is the place to learn how to do it.

Beautiful beaches, insanely cheap prices for both lessons and board rental, and plenty of expert local surfers around to help guide you to becoming a surfing pro make this one of the world’s best learn-to-surf destinations.  

The best place to try your luck surfing is Weligama on the southern coastline (90 minutes from Villa 80), where hundreds of surf schools dot the beach, or the horseshoe bay of Hiriketiya.

Other places you can learn to surf on the south and east coast, include Unawatuna, and Arugam Bay.

‘Bawa’ Lunuganga

This is a beautiful garden and the lifelong project of Sri Lanka’s renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa. Amazing views, rolling gardens, sculptures, rice fields and wonderful architecture can all be enjoyed here.

A garden retreat, a botanical delight and former home of Mr. Bevis Bawa – brother of the famous architect Mr. Geoffrey Bawa is well worth the visit. 

Turtle Hatchery

Five out of the seven species of sea turtle in the world come ashore to nest on the beaches of Sri Lanka. The best place to enjoy this is at the famous Induruwa Beach Turtle Sanctuary. Please inquire about evening sessions to witness baby turtles being released back into the wild.

Beruwala Fish Harbour Trip

Beruwala Harbour, in Beruwala, Sri Lanka is one of the main fishery harbours on the western coast of Sri Lanka.    

Kande Viharaya Temple

A giant Buddha perches atop a colourful pedestal at Kande Viharaya, an 18th-century hilltop temple. The name of this sacred place means ‘Mountain Temple’ and was derived because it was built on the crest of a hill near to Aluthgama town. Minutes away from Villa 80 Bentota, this sacred temple is well known for its miracles and famous among locals. During the tsunami in 2004 a lot of people ran to this temple to escape the tsunami. 

Bentota Perahara

If you are travelling in December or start of January, you might get lucky enough to experience Bentota Dalada Perahara, which is a Buddhist festival which happens once a year. The Dalada Maha Perahera held in veneration of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Arahat Anubuddha Maha Kashyapa by the Bentota Galapatha Raja Maha Vihara is regarded as the biggest cultural pageant of the Southern Sri Lanka from the time of kings. It is similar but smaller than the Esala Perhara in Kandy but one of the highlights in Bentota during the Peak Season.
